Aaron & Shawna

Our Story...

Aaron and Shawna met at work - they both worked at an Apple retail location in downtown Chicago, IL. One day in the break room, Aaron looks up at Shawna from two tables away. They're both playing on their Nintendo DS's and the room is empty except for the two of them. So, he looks up, and goes "What are you playing?"

Now, those of you that know Shawna will not be surprised by this, but she hates it when people interrupt her when she is doing something like reading, or playing on her DS, especially if she doesn't know the person. And they hadn't really met yet.

So, she gives him the dirtiest look she could manage, and said, "Pokemon." With as much 'leave me the hell alone' as possible. Aaron, being adorable, completely missed this, and cheerfully continued talking to her. Incredulous, Shawna continues to answer his questions, unsure why he continues talking to her, at all.

Fast forward to that evening - turns out they both ride the same bus home - Aaron decides to sit next to Shawna, who is aggressively reading a book, so as to avoid talking to other humans, and begins chatting with her again. Shawna does her best to deter his interest, including telling him at one point that her cat would eat his bird. Aaron is undeterred and graciously offers to walk her to her home. She ignores him, which he took as consent. After making sure she got into her building okay, he turned around and left.

And that was the beginning of a courtship that started with Shawna trying every trick in the book to get Aaron to leave her alone, as she had decided quite firmly to never date again, and ended with her jumping him and making him move across the country.
